Netskope to Expand in LatAm

Netskope plans to increase its headcount in Latin America and expand its regional datacenter infrastructure following a US$401mn funding round.

Netskope aims to use the funds to improve its technology capabilities while supporting its go-to-market expansion. Expanding market reach, including in Latin America, is another objective.

Most resources will go to the expansion of the technical and commercial workforce and, later in 2023, to potential upgrades and expansion of data infrastructure.

Netskope activated two datacenters last year in Rio de Janeiro and Brasília, adding to its São Paulo site, launched in 2018.

SASE is a framework for network architecture that unites cloud native security technologies with wide area network capabilities to connect users, systems, and endpoints to applications and services anywhere.

Netskope has seven datacenter infrastructures in five Latin American countries. These are in Bogotá, Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília. Worldwide, the company reports datacenters in over 60 regions.

Netskope does not build these sites from scratch. Instead, it opts for the colocation model, renting part of a datacenter to install its own racks, servers, and networks to serve its own operations.

Netskope still has idle space and capacity in those Latin American sites, which is why the fresh capital is not yet for infrastructure but for people. Investments in sites will come later in the year.
