DabaDoc aims to help patients, doctors and medical practices manage and digitise records and book appointments. It plans to add other services such as remote consultations, including those paid for by family members in the diasporas to improve access to healthcare. Launched in 2014 and operational in Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia, DabaDoc said around ten thousand doctors are using the platform, and over 8 million people have used the service. DabaDoc said in a statement on the sidelines of the Africa CEO Forum in Abidjan that it aimed to address the issue of limited and unequal access to healthcare for patients in a continent where there is still one doctor per 1,000 inhabitants.
Ivory Coast will be the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to benefit from the Orange Santé platform developed in partnership with DabaDoc and we hope to launch the solution in other countries as soon as possible. Orange Ivory Coast is very involved in the healthcare field. For instance, they already work with GAVI on the mVaccin platform to provide vaccination information and appointment reminders to parents in local languages. Online appointment bookings will start in Ivory Coast in the summer, and other services will gradually be added to the system by 2023.
