Statkraft Energias Renovaveis SA (B3:STKF3) and its unit Ventos de Sao Vitorino Energias Renovaveis plan to invest BRL 975 million (USD 192.5m/EUR 158.1m) in the wind power sector of Brazil’s Bahia state. The two companies have signed protocols of intention with the Bahia state government for the implementation of wind projects in the municipalities of Macaubas, Ubiai and Ibipeba.
The projects are expected to create 330 direct jobs and 100 indirect jobs in the region during the construction phase. The operation of the wind farms, in turn, will require four direct and eight indirect jobs. Wind farms in Bahia generated some 2,507.75 average megawatts (MWa), according to data from the Power Trading Chamber (CCEE)’s InfoMercado Quinzenal, the biweekly bulletin for energy generation and consumption.
