German firm Blue Elephant Energy AG (BEE) has acquired a portfolio of solar projects with a total capacity of 47 MW in the Netherlands. The portfolio includes four construction-ready solar farms in the southeast and east part of the country. Construction of the projects is expected to begin in the first half of the year, with the solar farms to be connected to the grid and begin commercial operations by the end of 2021. Together the four solar farms are expected to cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 26,500 tonnes and power 15,000 homes a year.
Blue Elephant’s solar portfolio in the Netherlands now has a capacity of around 500 MWp, while its overall renewables portfolio has reached about 1,066 MW. The seller of the portfolio is LC Energy, formed by UK asset manager Low Carbon and Dutch engineering firm Qing. LC Energy will partner with Blue Elephant during the construction process.
