140-MW Wind Farm in South Africa

Lekela Power said that is 140-MW Kangnas wind farm in South Africa reached commercial operation. With this milestone, Lekela-led consortium has finalized five wind farm projects across South Africa, accumulating over 600 MW of combined operational capacity. In October, the company commenced operation of the 110-MW Perdekraal East wind park in the Western Cape, South Africa. Kangnas is located 50 kilometers (31.1 miles) east of Springbok in the Northern Cape province. It features 61 units of Siemens SWT-2.3-108 turbines and is capable of generating some 500 GWh of power annually.

The wind farm is Lekela’s second project from Round 4 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Procurement (REIPPP) Programme to go live and will operate under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).
